Team Ghana Update: A New Church Plant after Six MonthsThe first Sunday Otchere Boachie visited our church in September 2011, he walked the aisle and trusted Christ as his Saviour. God continued to work in Brother Otchere’s life. He received a bachelor’s degree from Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa in February 2018. For several years, he served on our staff as an evangelist and soul-winner trainer. He married his wife Mercy on June 5, 2020. He pastored our church in Kunsu for over a year and helped plant churches in Foase and Sogakope. While overseeing the work in Foase, he went soul winning in the town of Offinso from October 2022 – September 2023 with a vision for starting a church there.

In October and November of 2023, Pastor Otchere brought people on a bus from Offinso to our church in Bohyen. Then on December 17, 2023, the Fundamental Baptist Church of Offinso was launched. We have asked Pastor Otchere to give us an update on this work a half a year in:

Through the generosity of a church in the U.S. and my home church in Bohyen, Kumasi, the Lord provided a church building for our new church. We had our first service in that building in February of this year.

By the grace of God, more than 600 souls have trusted Christ alone for salvation, 21 of whom have followed the Lord in baptism. We have about 43 faithful members in our church. We recently had a Gospel crusade at which more than 40 professed their faith in Christ. In Offinso, we have the opportunity to preach in various schools, such as these junior high schools: Offinso Nyankaso, Offinso Kokote Municipal, Offinso Methodist, Offinso Bouse, and Bishop Sarpong. Through our school preaching, over 300 students have been saved.

And then I thank God for one of our key members – Emmanuel Yankyera. He was saved in August 2023. He has been coming to church faithfully and doing our discipleship lessons. Recently, he followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. He goes soul winning with me, and he has a great amount of zeal. In March of this year, he enrolled at Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa.

Please pray for Pastor Otchere, his family, and this new church plant. Thank you for your prayers and support!
