Team Ghana Update: Mission Trips to GhanaWhat a joy it was to share our mission field with two different groups over the last couple of months!

Vision Clinics

We partnered with Dr. & Mrs. Greg (Linda) Waller of Truth for Today Medical Missions and a missions team of 15, organized and led by Dr. Mark Bosje, to conduct several vision clinics. One clinic was held on Sunday afternoon, September 15, for our church people. Then we conducted two all-day clinics – one on Monday, September 16, for our church community and one on Tuesday, September 17, for the community of Mampomteng, where a daughter church is located. In total, 656 people came through the clinics, and 487 made a decision to believe on Christ. Many of these people are folks we would have never reached any other way. After helping them to see better, they were very glad to hear the truth from God’s Word concerning salvation. Each person was dealt with individually by a trained soul winner. Please take time to watch this video about these clinics.

In addition to their participation in the vision clinics, this group joined our members for Saturday soul winning and had opportunities to preach in several local schools.

We would like to conduct these vision clinics on a regular basis, but we are in need of certain optical equipment: an autorefractor, a retinoscope, an ophthalmoscope, and possibly even a phoropter. If you know of anyone who might want to make a donation or who has reasonably-priced, used equipment for sale, please contact me at ted.speer@fbmi.org.

Church Group from Faith Baptist Church in Wildomar, California

We were so glad to host the Brett and Jenn Beil family, who served with Team Ghana from 2007–2012. They were accompanied by 5 college-aged young people from their church. This group visited daughter churches, preached at a local soccer field, helped conduct a Vacation Bible School, visited our orphanage, and went soul winning on our bus routes and Bible Clubs. This group was able to see over 250 souls saved during their visit. In addition, they sponsored a fun day with an Olympic theme for our staff. Here is a link to a recap video by Mrs. Beil.

Both of these groups were able to visit Elmina Castle (the oldest castle in West Africa and place of the embarkation of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade) and take in some down time at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort.

Not only did God use these visitors to minister to many Africans, but by their own testimonies, God did a great work in the hearts of those in each group. If your church is interested in a missions trip to Ghana, I would be glad to hear from you! Please reach out to me at ted.speer@fbmi.org.
