We often feel extra blessed as missionaries because we know that we have dear friends in Christ all over the world who pray faithfully for us. It is a blessing we do not take for granted, and we appreciate every prayer offered on our behalf.
The Lord is working mightily here in Peru. Our September Escuela de Pastores (“Pastors’ School”) finished, with many trusting Christ, many being called to full-time service, and many pastors and churches being edified and strengthened. Thank you for praying. A video update was released recently about the conference; if you would like to view that video or any other ministry-update videos, please let us know.
We had the opportunity to attend the Missions Mastermind, sponsored by our mission board, in September as well. This gave us the opportunity to visit Thailand! We were able to be a part of a thriving church in Bangkok, as well as get to know many missionaries and national pastors in that part of the world. We came away from the event challenged to do more for the Lord, encouraged by friends in the ministry, and burdened to pray for Christians all over the globe. We also snuck away to Tokyo for a few days to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It is difficult to believe that we have been married for 30 years; the years have truly flown by! We are looking forward to the next 30 years together, if the Lord tarries.
Our church is getting ready to have its annual Missions Conference. We hope to take on several more missionaries, if the Lord allows. We often tell our people that we are called to reach the world from Surco, Lima, Peru. We are thankful for the sacrificial givers in our church! Our people are involved in soul winning here in our local area as well. We ask that you pray for us as we strive to reach our area for Jesus. We have a goal to have 50 soul winners out consistently each week, and we are nearing that goal! For example, last week was a “normal” week, and 44 soul winners were out sharing the Gospel, with a result of 97 people making a profession of faith in Jesus Christ! Each week, visitors attend, new people begin discipleship, and people get baptized—God is growing His church. We ask for prayer to keep this fire going in our hearts and lives.
Our youth are currently having revival services each Sunday morning. This gives us a little more space in our auditorium and encourages our teens as well. Our homeschool group/Christian school is going well despite having to meet virtually several times this last quarter due to transportation strikes in Lima. We do ask that you pray for Peru, as extortions and gang violence have reached high levels now, even in the capital city of Lima. Because of drivers being shot and killed (often with passengers watching), the bus lines have called for strikes several times, prompting schools to close to protect the children who normally travel in buses. In desperation, the President was impeached for her inability to act, and a new President was put into place. This is the third President for this current term (2021-2026). Please pray for our safety and for the safety of our people who ride the buses (it is the normal way of life here). We trust the Lord and ask that you pray for Peru.
Please continue to pray for our institute students! We are so pleased to see God using our graduates and are excited for those who will be graduating soon.
Please continue to pray for the conferences that we hold in different parts of Peru and other countries as well. We will be in Pucallpa later this month, where one of our young men will be planting a church in the early part of next year. We will hold a
Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference there. We will also travel to Cusco for a Missions Conference, as well as Bolivia in November. We ask you to pray for traveling mercies and for revival to spread across Peru and South America.
Our children are doing well. Thank you for praying for them. It warms our hearts when we hear of people who pray for our adult children. We are including a new family photo of us empty nesters!
May God richly bless and keep you.
