In April 2012, God led me and several other staff men to start soul winning in the village of Adankwame. For over a year, we conducted a Bible study there, but now our church operates a bus route to the village. Since we started ministering there, 76 souls have been baptized from that village. This month I wanted to update you on how God continues to work in Adankwame.
Another Michael Sarver: Emmanuel Tawiah is one of the staff men who went soul winning with me in Adankwame. He won a man named Bernard Boakye, who runs a small store in Adankwame, to Christ. Bernard has become a very faithful member of our church and often brings visitors with him to church. Bernard honored me recently by naming his child after me. The child’s official name is Kwadwo Michael Sarver Boakye.
Funeral of Kwaku Nsiah: About a year ago, I invited Kwaku Nsiah to church. He came on the Adankwame bus route. His bus captain, James Boadu, won him to Christ during the invitation, and he was baptized. Mr. Nsiah, age 74 at the time, came to our church only about five times before he had a stroke, which put him in the hospital and then confined him to his home.
On December 4, 2013, Mr. Nsiah passed away; the family asked me to preach his funeral, which was held on January 25. (In Ghana it is very common for many weeks to pass before the funeral to allow family and friends to gather.) I preached to a gathering of almost 200. During the invitation at least 10 raised their hands to indicate they had been trusting the wrong thing (their own good works) but they were now trusting Christ alone for salvation.
Two Recent Converts: At the funeral of Kwaku Nsiah, Bernard introduced me to his father, Opanin Tuffour. Bernard brought Opanin and another man, Michael Sarfo, to church the next day. Both were witnessed to during the invitation, professed their faith in Christ, and were baptized.
Prayer Requests: Please continue to pray for those who live in Adankwame and those who minister there. Also, in the month of February, our church is emphasizing giving for missions. As part of this emphasis, Pastor Speer has asked me to teach Biblical financial principles each Sunday school hour in February. Please pray that God uses me to help many of our adults and teens get their finances on track for God!
Thank you for your faithful support and prayers!
