As we reflect on the past two months, we are filled with gratitude for God’s faithfulness and the many ways He has blessed and worked through our ministry here. November and December were especially eventful months, filled with opportunities for fellowship, service, and sharing the Gospel. We are excited to share some of the highlights with you. In November, I had the privilege of attending a Japan Missionary Men’s Retreat in Okinawa. This gathering was a time of mutual encouragement, as fellow independent Baptist missionaries from across Japan shared tips, prayed for one another, and strengthened bonds of fellowship. I came away inspired and equipped with new ideas to apply in our ministry here in Osaka. Later that month, we celebrated Thanksgiving with the Gardner family, fellow missionaries we mentioned in our previous update. It was a wonderful day of fellowship and gratitude, highlighted by a short play on the history of Thanksgiving performed by all of our children. The Gardners’ children were a great encouragement to our kids, and it was a joy to reflect on God’s goodness together. I also had the opportunity to lead an online devotion for fellow missionaries in Japan, something I am honored to do every few months. It’s always a blessing to share from God’s Word and to hopefully be an encouragement to other missionaries. Meanwhile, my wife continued her ongoing meetings with Mami, a Japanese woman we have been witnessing to for over a year. Mami’s spiritual journey has been a source of encouragement and hope for us, and my wife extended an invitation to her for our special Christmas service . . . but more on that later! December was a busy month filled with both opportunities and blessings. Early in the month, we hosted the Gallardo family, who were part of a missions trip with Faith Baptist Church of Wildomar, California. Their presence was a great blessing to our family and the Senri Newtown Baptist Church (SNBC). The following week, we briefly hosted the rest of the missions-trip group. It was a joy to introduce them to the ministry here and to take them out soul winning. Their energy and their passion for the Gospel were contagious, and we were encouraged by their dedication to reaching the lost. We were also greatly encouraged to hear a message in English from the trip host and former FBMI missionary, Bro. Brett Beil! Later in December, my wife’s sister, her husband, and their five children came to stay with us for two weeks. This was a busy but incredibly joyful time, as they are faithful members of our sending church in America and the closest family we have. They were able to participate in several aspects of the ministry at SNBC, and it was a blessing to serve alongside them. Celebrating Christmas together, even a day early, was a special gift, and saying goodbye on Christmas Eve was difficult, especially for the children. The month of December was marked by much preparation for the Christmas services at SNBC. These efforts were richly rewarded, as God blessed in amazing ways. During the morning service, two people raised their hands expressing their desire to trust Christ as their Saviour. One of them was Mami! She spoke with the pastor’s wife afterward, and while she did not make an immediate decision to trust Christ, she expressed a strong desire to learn more about the Bible. We were able to purchase Mami her own Bible, and she has since attended church two Sundays in a row! Please continue to pray for her salvation and spiritual growth. It has been awe-inspiring to see God at work in her life. We also invited Krrish, the Indian man we’ve been witnessing to, and the couple from the Chuo ward of Osaka, whom Brother Oishi first introduced to us nearly two years ago and whom we have mentioned several times. Seeing them again after some time was encouraging. Please pray for continued opportunities to share the Gospel with them and for God to work in their hearts. We are hopeful for what He will do as these relationships deepen. Throughout the last two months, we were also able to host several gatherings in our home with various people. Please pray that these will come to bear fruit as we continue to strengthen and deepen our relationships with people here in Japan. Prayer Requests As we reflect on these past two months, we are overwhelmed by God’s goodness and the many ways He has been at work. Here are a few specific prayer requests we would ask you to lift up: 1. Mami’s salvation – Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in her heart and that she will come to trust Christ as her Saviour. 2. Krrish and the Chuo Ward couple – Pray for continued opportunities to witness to them and for their hearts to be open to the Gospel. 3. Our ministry at SNBC – Pray for wisdom, strength, and guidance as we seek to reach more people with the Gospel and disciple those who come to faith. Also, please be in prayer for me as I preach in Japanese again at the church on Wednesday, January 29. 4. Our family’s continued growth and encouragement – Pray for strength and grace as we balance ministry and family life, as well as language learning and schooling for the children. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. Your partnership in the Gospel is invaluable, and we could not do this without you. May God bless you abundantly as we enter this new year, and may He continue to guide and use us all for His glory. In Christ’s service, The Morgan Family <p data-wpview-marker=.
