“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) Rudy and his wife Rosalvina came to our church four years ago from an evangelical church, which did not preach biblical salvation. They always professed to be saved but included works in their testimonies. When I asked in a recent service who thought they had been saved but realized they weren’t and had truly gotten saved, she and her husband raised their hands. Rosalvina later made a public profession of faith and got baptized. Please pray that Rudy would do the same.
Elsira is a lady who has been coming to our church for six years. Her teenage daughter got saved about five years ago, and since then we have been praying for Elsira’s salvation. One time she raised her hand during the invitation saying that she wasn’t sure she was saved. When I had someone talk to her, she said that she was saved. After witnessing to her again one morning, she finally admitted that she didn’t understand what salvation really was until that moment and that she wanted to be saved from Hell. She prayed immediately and asked Jesus to save her. She said that she was embarrassed to admit that she really wasn’t saved, so she just agreed with whatever I said. Please pray that her husband Ovidio and son Marcos would also get saved. I thank God for the power of the Gospel.
Last year I started giving a class on biblical morals in one of the many public schools in our town; however, because of many obligations here at the church, I was not able to continue teaching it this year. I have always wanted to have a ministry in the schools, as the majority of them will let us teach and preach the Bible. I have always seen it as a great opportunity to win souls and have an influence in the lives of the young people, so I was thrilled when I heard that two of our young men had decided to continue that vision to reach the lost in the schools. They have already been able to lead many people to the Lord and bring several to church. My prayer is that one day we will have someone in charge of this ministry full-time.
In closing, I would like to thank all of you who have been praying about my eye situation. After seeing five eye doctors, the last one I saw finally did find a lesion in my right eye. At least I now know what is affecting my vision. Please pray for wisdom to know what treatment would be best and that the Lord would guide us as to where to have it done—here or in the States.
His for souls,
