IT’S NOT IN VAIN
Often the day-to-day work of a ministry can seem trivial and mundane, but so much of this work is preparation for the future. We have been working on several things that will help strengthen our team and the future of our ministries.
Recently our language school, which allows us to stay in the country legally, sent out a letter to local businesses and government offices offering 14 scholarships for a 20-week course in order to help build relationships within our community. The testing went well, and classes will begin soon!
Miss Shari House has done a great job in preparing the teachers, the school, and curriculum for the upcoming classes. It has taken time to build a reputation and get our name out into the community, but we are looking forward to having a strong school and another way to reach more people for the Lord.
Shari House invited Anne, one of her language-school students, to church a few months ago. This month after a Sunday morning service, Miss Shari shared the Gospel with Anne, and she was sweetly saved. Pray for Anne as she grows spiritually and understands her new relationship with the Lord. We pray that the Lord opens the door for more of our students to know Him as their Saviour.
Last week I met with a Thai language teacher who has taught several of our team members. Next month the team will begin regular language studies once again. We will study Thai for two hours, three days a week. Throughout these six years in Thailand, we have studied the language on and off as we have busily worked in the ministry. We can communicate, but there is much work to be accomplished in order for us to be fluent. This will be a top priority. Please pray for us!
While we work on these things, God is allowing us to see souls saved each week, with over 77 people trusting Christ this month and 19 first-time visitors.
I think of I Corinthians 15:58 when I think of our ministry here in Thailand: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” We must stay, remain steadfast, and remember that our work is not in vain in the Lord.
Your support and prayers for our team are what keep us going and encouraged! We pray for you and do not take you for granted.
