I am glad to write to you again our bi-monthly prayer letter, just as I have for the last 17 years. I am always looking forward to sharing with you the exciting, as well as the not-so-exciting.
I thank God that the hurricane season is officially over. This hurricane season was very destructive for the Caribbean Islands and Florida. Some Caribbean Islands were hit twice by powerful hurricanes, which cause great devastation. A lot of heavy praying was done by Cuban Christians and I for all the people affected.
But what is not over yet is the burning fire in Hell. So our heavy praying must continue for souls to be saved and lives to be changed. Soul winning must continue.
New independent Baptist churches are sprouting up throughout the island. Don’t misunderstand me, however; it is not a national revival happening—at least not yet. It is going slowly. Every opportunity I have to preach and teach in any of these new churches, I encourage them in these four areas: (1) soul winning, (2) prayer, (3) missions, and (4) the power of the Holy Spirit to get people saved. Some are catching on . . . slowly but surely. They go out and pass out Gospel tracts. Remember that 15 years ago, passing out Gospel tracts was prohibited. Slowly but surely, they go out to witness to people on the streets. That, too, was prohibited 15 years ago. PATIENCE is a virtue—it is a must to have here on the mission field!
Christians are also giving testimonies of answers to prayer in their lives. The daughter of one of my graduates burned to death in an accident. The Lord gave this man great comfort in this difficult time through his prayer life. This man is one of the best soul winners I know in Cuba.
Another man prayed for 10 years for his wife and son to get saved. His son got saved first, and his wife got saved after his 10 years of praying for her. We now meet at their home for services every week and rejoice with singing and preaching and listening to the Word of God.
I had the privilege to lead 17 precious souls to the Lord in personal soul winning and through preaching in church services.
Please continue to pray for:
1. Our family’s spiritual life.
2. Our finances.
3. God’s power for preaching and soul winning.
