“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (II Corinthians 4:4) In past prayer letters, I have asked for prayer regarding the need for the Holy Spirit to take away the spiritual blindness of the lost so that they would understand the Gospel and get saved. These last two months, the Lord has worked, and we have seen Him take away spiritual blindness time and time again.
María Antonieta is a lady who got saved through a work we started in San Martín Jilotepeque many years ago. Even though she had witnessed to her dad Santos several times, he never would get saved. Four months ago her dad had an accident and was paralyzed from the waist down. His health started to decline, and he was not eating very well. She got very concerned for him, and since he lives in our town, she asked if I would go with her to witness to him one more time. He did not get saved this time either; however, we continued praying for him. She called me up two months later and told me that her dad had accepted Christ and that he wanted to get baptized. The following Sunday I went with a couple of men from our church to pick him up and bring him to church so that he could get baptized. It was a very exciting time for the whole church family as we lowered him into the baptistery and rejoiced with him in his profession of faith and baptism. Please pray for Santos’ health; pray that he would grow spiritually and that his wife would also get saved.
My wife went to visit a first-time visitor but couldn’t find her house, so she just started knocking doors where she was. She knocked on a door, and a teenage girl came out. Misty witnessed to her, and she got saved. A couple of weeks later, Misty went back to invite the girl to a special day we were having at church, and she was able to witness to her mom also. She had been raised believing that she had to do good works in order to go to Heaven. While my wife was witnessing to her, she said, “Now I understand. My good works will not save me. Only Jesus can save me.” She then bowed her head and sweetly asked Jesus to save her from Hell. I can’t help but think that this was a direct response to the prayers of God’s people.
Many people who have come to our church are from a town called Las Lomas, which is about 30 minutes away. I have gone there several times to witness to lost family members of those who come to our church. It is a wicked town where not many church-going people live. We decided to go soul winning there every Saturday with the church. After we knock every door, we are planning on having a special open-air meeting to preach the Gospel. Please pray that that the Lord would help the people of Las Lomas to understand salvation and get saved.
We love you all and appreciate all you do for us.
His for souls,
