SMITE YOUTH CAMP
In April, our church hosted a group from Nigeria, led by Missionaries Mark Holmes and Sonnie McGuffee. This group came to conduct SMITE Camp (Student Missions Institute for Training in Evangelism) at our church. This camp originated in the USA and is designed to train youth how to evangelize children and conduct Bible Clubs.
The camp was held April 16-20. Over 70 teens and Bible college students were a part of the camp. Each afternoon our campers conducted Bible Clubs in the areas around our church. We had 14 Bible Clubs, which enrolled over 940 children, with over 530 making the decision to trust Christ as their Saviour! Praise the Lord!
One of the great blessings of this program is that it teaches the youth that they can serve the Lord NOW. Because of the instruction and motivation that our teens received, several of them have continued to conduct Bible Clubs in the area and are reaching children with the Gospel! We have had many children come to church from these Bible Clubs!
A few weeks ago when I was conducting our Tuesday night church service in Barekuma, one of our teen girls, Charity Moah (who had attended the camp), gave a praise that she was able to conduct a Bible Club and lead 3 children to the Lord! Please pray that our youth will continue to have zeal to reach others with the Gospel.
Soul Winning
For the last several months, I have been able to go soul winning at a nearby college campus. We have been able to lead many students to Christ, and a few of them have started coming to our church. We are planning to start a ministry on the campus so that we can be more effective at discipling these students. Please pray that God will give us wisdom for this important ministry.
A few weeks ago, two of my class members brought their friend Pious to church. After church I was able to share the Gospel with him, and he trusted Christ as his Saviour. The following week he got baptized. Last week he completed Lesson 1 of our discipleship curriculum. Please pray for Pious to continue to grow in the Lord.
