At the beginning of August, we had our preliminary exit meeting with our mission board. We are thrilled, as we are getting closer to leaving for the mission field! At our meeting we discussed all the things necessary to complete prior to moving to Ghana. Even though we have made so many wonderful friends on this journey who have made us feel at home, we’ve not had a home base for 2½ years. With the advice from our mission board and with our pastor’s counseling, we will finish up deputation the first week of November and take about two months in Virginia to complete all of our paperwork, vaccinations, and tie up any loose ends.
After our meeting we headed down to North Carolina to present our ministry. God was so good by giving us two new churches, Fellowship Baptist Church in Durham and Harbor Baptist Church in Charlotte, to partner with us right away! From there we headed to Tennessee. We were blessed to go visiting with a large group of workers and teens from Crossroads Baptist Church in Memphis. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed going with Bro. and Mrs. DiPaola. They were sharing the good news by preaching John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not PERISH, but have everlasting life.” (They put a big emphasis on the word perish.) My wife also had the opportunity to witness to quite a few people from the bus-route area. Several put their faith in Christ alone to save their souls. We are praying that these folks will be faithful to church and grow in their new faith.
Towards the end of the month, we had the opportunity to present at Val Verde Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nick Dignan in Groves, Texas. We are thankful for their hearts for the Deaf there. It was exciting to meet and fellowship with several Deaf folks and see so many of their members using sign language. We can’t explain what a blessing it is to see churches ministering to one of the largest group of unreached people in America—the Deaf.
People have asked how they can pray for us or what our biggest need is right now. We are asking you to prayerfully consider how you can be a part of our Start-Up Costs Fund. Our sending church, Crossroads Baptist Church, is managing this fund. Just imagine moving halfway around the world with your clothes and a few other items. The expenses for moving to a new country can add up quickly, and this Start-Up Costs Fund will take care of these specific needs: expenses such as housing, tickets for our flight to Ghana, shipping barrels with personal items, purchasing a vehicle, all the cost involved for visas and passports, and materials for our new church. Please check out our website, halls2ghana.com, to see how you can be a part.
