Team Ghana Update: S.M.I.T.E. Camp and Bible ClubsOne of the ministries that reaches many and helps train future ministry workers is our Bible Club ministry. Missionary Mark Holmes helped us start this ministry six years ago with our first ever S.M.I.T.E. camp. We now hold these camps each year. S.M.I.T.E. stands for Student Missions Institute for Training in Evangelism. During mornings of this camp, teens and young adults are taught how to conduct neighborhood Bible Clubs. In the afternoons, they split up and conduct many actual Bible Clubs. Then in the evening, there is preaching for the campers. After S.M.I.T.E. camp, these young people return to their home churches and put into practice what they have learned. Here is a testimony from one of our Bible Club leaders, Da-Coster Asubonteng:

After our S.M.I.T.E. camp last year, the Lord laid it on my heart to continue conducting a Bible Club on a weekly basis. On August 5, 2023, some teenagers in the church and I started a club in Pastor Speer’s front yard. Twenty-two kids came to that first Bible Club. Since then, the numbers have been growing, and many have gotten saved.

In February of 2024, my family and two other workers decided to start going early on Sunday mornings to bring kids to church. We are seeing the fruits of our labors; an average of 15 kids are coming every week.

Several weeks ago, we started doing discipleship booklets with the kids. Please pray that they would grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and that we could reach their parents as well.

We had a great week of S.M.I.T.E camp again last month! Pastors Babatunde Ajayi and Adewale Adesina from Nigeria helped conduct the camp. A total of 155 young people came for training. Twenty-three Bible Clubs were held during the week. Over 1,600 children came to the Bible Clubs, and 760 of them professed faith in Christ. Eight people completed the S.M.I.T.E. training, and 16 young men surrendered to preach. I continue to get reports of new Bible Clubs being started and children and parents coming to church as a result.

Pray for these workers and the families they are reaching to grow in grace!

Yours for souls,

Ted Speer
