It surely has been an eventful couple of months since our last prayer letter, both in relation to ministry and on a personal level. Coastline Baptist Church recently relocated. We thank the Lord that He has provided the use of an educational building at a local high school. It has plenty of space and good exposure to passing traffic. Praise God! Visitors keep showing up for services, while a team of young people from church remain faithful to getting the Gospel out to the people of Devonport!
Larry, a pastor’s son, and Lily have been coming faithfully for some time now. They are here from Taiwan on working visas. They came to our home on a Sunday afternoon to learn to bake coffee cake, and they taught Laura to make chicken fried rice. Afterwards Laura was able to witness to Lily. She wanted to trust Christ but was having difficulty praying in English. Larry and I were in the room, and he stepped in and helped translate. Lily prayed and asked Jesus to save her!
Thanks to those who have prayed for Laura’s mom’s health. Laura’s sister had called to say Mom was critically ill, so we flew to the States the morning after Lily got saved. I needed to return to Australia early for a planned hospital stay, so I was only there for 12 days. Mom graduated to Heaven on May 4, and Laura was able to be with her and also speak at the funeral. The family had a garage sale, and several Haitians came. Laura invited them to the church we attend in that area. Patrick showed up for the morning service on Mother’s Day! The pastor will follow up on him.
We have been following up on Lois and Rex. Lois has been disillusioned with the Jehovah’s Witness religion she was part of for many years. We have an appointment to discuss the Bible with them in a couple of weeks.
Prayer Requests
• Spiritual growth for Lily, as she is here for a few more months
• For Lois and Rex to have their eyes opened to the truth and to get saved
• For more souls to be saved and for the church to grow
• For visitors to return and become faithful
Thank you again for your ongoing support. We love and pray for your co-labor in reaching the lost in your neighborhood.
In the service of our King, and all for His glory,
Andrew and Laura Steers
