Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us. We have had a wonderful few months, serving wherever we are needed, getting more involved in the ministries at our new location, and connecting with the people here. We are really enjoying being leaders in the teen ministry and helping with the children’s activities as well. It has been on my heart to be more involved in reaching people from my tribe, the Lahu people, and God has put us in the place where we can do that. There are several teens attending our church’s teen program who are Lahu, and there is also a majority-Lahu neighborhood near our church in San Sai. A Lahu/Karen family we met at our church in San Sai was starting a church in their home. Through God’s provision, they were able to rent a building in a village where there wasn’t a church. A few churches came together to join in their dedication service. We were honored to help serve and be an encouragement on their Opening Day. We are also intentionally getting to know the people in our neighborhood. With the help of our church, we distributed John and Romans and tracts to the over 500 homes in our village.
We praise the Lord for blessing the First-Anniversary Sunday of Door of Life Baptist Church in Chom Tong. There was a full house with many visitors. Several children came from the public-school outreach program, and many other visitors were invited by church members. It is exciting to see them bringing friends and people they know to church. Two sisters invited a friend of the family. This was the friend’s first time ever being in a church, but she enjoyed it and has kept coming back with her husband. Tiffany sat down and talked with her about the Gospel and answered some of the questions she had about God. Although she is still searching and isn’t yet ready to accept Jesus as her Saviour, she said she is learning and has the desire to continue learning. Going to temple was done out of tradition, and she didn’t understand most of the monks’ teachings.
Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on the Queen’s birthday in August, is an extra special day here, and we were honored to help organize the Mother’s Day program at both churches. On previous Mother’s Days in the location we used to serve, we’d only have one or two mothers in attendance. Gifts would be sent home with the children to give to their mothers. In this service, there were several mothers with their children in attendance. In the evening service, we put everything away because we thought there weren’t going to be any new mothers who hadn’t attended the morning service. Just as we were about to start, a mother of two faithful girls walked into church for the first time. They had begged their mom to come, saying there would be a special program for mothers. It was extra special, as she was honored by her daughters and gave her thanks for our church’s teaching and helping her daughters.
