A Cry from Across New Borders into a Muslim City n Pakistan
“There are HUNDREDS of displaced Afghani refugees in our city, Brother—and they are asking for the Gospel. We have locals in the city who want to hear as well. We need men who can accurately preach the Word of God to them!” Word for word, this is exactly what two dear Christian servants have said to me several times in recent months, so our plan is to respond to this request and travel to a major city in Pakistan in the second half of June. God has provided 28% of the funds we need so far for our year’s outreach. I believe He has directed me to use much of what we have received to make this trip. We will be raising funds for Bibles, travel, and lodging, as well as food and medicine for people in several house churches on the parameters of the city. Please see our special prayer requests below. Right now, I would like to explain how this open door came about.
A servant I work with in Afghanistan introduced me to “Pastor Alex” late last year, a man who literally goes from house to house in a section of his city. He joined our “Clubhouse” meetings to Afghanistan and Iran and asked me if I would preach over the Zoom channel to his groups in Pakistan. The response was overwhelming. Many of these people had been taught that Jesus was the “son of Allah” and were confused by a number of pseudo-Christian heresies. I began teaching basic doctrines, beginning with salvation and sanctification. They recorded these messages and began circulating them among other families; they were so hungry for truth.
These weekly teaching meetings have begun to include prayer meetings. In one of the meetings, I was asked to pray for a 14-year-old girl named “Sheezel.” She was barely 3½ feet tall. Less than THREE WEEKS after our prayer meeting, her family sent a video to say that God had performed a miracle—she had grown TWO INCHES! To GOD be the glory, great things HE hath done! What a special update this was and one that is growing the faith of some sweet people in this Pakistani community.
Another story is about a man named J___. This Afghani man suffered from kidney failure. A dear friend in Pakistan launched a Facebook campaign to raise money for his need, and his mother donated a kidney. The money was given for the operation; he received the transplant in neighboring Pakistan, but his body rejected the kidney. He has needed life-sustaining medicine to help him until (and if) a new donor can be found. I sent $40 to help with this medicine, which was purchased in Pakistan and taken over to Afghanistan . . . and here is what happened. J___ said he had never seen this kind of care, this kind of love, in Islam. It was clear to him that HE WANTED Jesus for himself, and the second week of March, he asked Christ to save him! We rejoiced in a wonderful way! It was spiritual teamwork that God used to soften his heart and prepare him for salvation.
Please know that I deal with very accountable Christians. When the medicine was purchased for J___, my brother videoed the presentation of the medicine, showing me what it was, though I never asked him to do so. These people don’t ask for money. They don’t beg or “poor mouth.” They want to share the reality of Christ, humbly and tenderly—and God lets me walk among giants!
PRAYER REQUESTS
I have funds for plane tickets and visas for myself and another key man. We are asking God for money to help us with in-country travel, food, lodging, incidentals, and Bibles/supplies for these house churches, as we asked them for a “wish list.” As God enables, any love offering for this specific trip would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
