Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference
Please pray for our conference, which will be held August 18-21. Our guest speaker this year is Pastor Marvin E. Smith II of Harvest Baptist Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The theme for our conference is “Spiritual Warfare: Conquering Through Christ.” Over 170 delegates have pre-registered. Pray that God uses this conference to make an eternal impact on the churches that are represented.
So Love, So Give
For several weeks in June and August, we emphasized Faith Promise missions giving with our church people. Our theme was “So Love, So Give.” Special lessons were taught and sermons preached about missions and giving. In each service we prayed for 1 of the 14 African pastors and their families who are partially supported by our church offerings here in Kumasi. I was so pleased at the response: 326 of our church members made pledges, which was an increase of 112 over last year. The total amount pledged this year is 21% more than last year in dollar value.
Fundamental Baptist Academy
On July 29, 15 children (including my son Michael) graduated from our kindergarten. Our preschool kids quoted John 3:16 and sang “Jesus Loves Me.” Our kindergarteners quoted John 1:1-15 and sang “Little by Little, Step by Step.” Then the older students presented a play about the parable of the talents and sang, “In the Service of the King.” Between 300 and 400 people attended the service. It was a delightful evening! Pray that God continues to work in the lives of our young people.
Prayer Meetings
Our church is holding extra prayer meetings every day this week to pray for our conference and other needs. I am encouraged both by the praises offered and prayer requests made by our people. Maybe you can join us in praying for a few of their requests:
• Thomas asked prayer for the spiritual growth of his brother Appiah, whom he recently won to Christ.
• Albert asked prayer for his extended family; he hopes to share the Gospel with many of them as they attend his cousin’s wedding on August 14.
• Joseph asked prayer for the salvation of his father Solomon, who lives in a different region.
Team Family
The team family prayer letter for this month is from the Hall family. Please pray for them as they continue to raise support. They are needed to get the Gospel to the deaf here in Ghana! By the way, if you do not already receive our team updates by email, you may sign up at this website:
