A Visit to the Chief
Our church is located in Bohyen, a village or neighborhood in the city of Kumasi. The chief of Bohyen is like the landlord for all of the properties in Bohyen. For this reason, he is a very influential man in our area. Recently the chief invited us to come to his “palace” and preach the Gospel to him and his men. On the first Saturday morning in June (while I was in the States), a dozen of our soul winners met the chief and his men. The chief listened well but did not receive the Gospel at that time. However, we believe several of his men trusted Christ. At the end, our soul winners presented each man with a Bible. The visit went very well, but please pray for the chief’s salvation.
Bibles Clubs
From our School Ministry has grown a new ministry for us. We have launched a Bible Club Ministry on Friday afternoons. Students from the area schools in which we preach gather from 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. to learn more about the Bible. Between 40 and 60 children from area schools attend on a weekly basis.
Welcome Home
Our church in Kumasi gave my family a very loving welcome back after our two-month furlough. The Sunday school classes had stocked our home with things like fruit, vegetables, bread, eggs, and bottled water. One of our new college students painted a beautiful welcome sign for us. Then on Sunday, hundreds of church members greeted me personally and handed me handwritten notes; I had an enjoyable time Sunday afternoon reading every note. How blessed I am to be able to serve such loving people!
Donation for a Church Building
We want to thank the First Baptist Church of South Brevard, Florida, for their very generous donation, which will help us build a building for our church plant in Barekuma. Team missionary Charles Osgood does a great job pastoring this village church in addition to his many responsibilities here at our church in Bohyen.
Team Family Prayer Letter
The team family in focus this month is the Micah Christiansen family, who are currently on deputation. Please take time to read over their prayer letter and pray for them. Just recently Brother Micah completed his training to be an ACE school administrator. His training in this area will be a great help to our team.
Yours for souls,
Ted Speer
