The mission statement of our team is “Accelerating the Great Commission through focused discipleship and church multiplication.” In July 2011 our church sent out George Menyon and four other families to start a church in Monrovia, Liberia. These men and their wives were all trained at Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa and Fundamental Baptist Church International. This month’s Team Ghana update is actually about the work we have had a part in starting in Liberia and is written by Pastor George Menyon.
The ministry of Grandview Baptist Church of Monrovia, Liberia, is doing fine, with new churches being started and many souls getting saved. In March of this year, we awarded certificates to 7 ladies who completed the soul-winner’s training in the Phoster Club. Although several of our church families left to other parts of the country to start churches, the Lord continues to use us to win more souls to replace those who have left.
Our church now runs an average attendance of 100 adults and 90 children on Sunday mornings, 50 on Sunday nights, and 60 on Wednesday nights. As of the end of February, our church has baptized 307 converts, and our other church plants have baptized 67.
In March of this year, we started 2 new churches in Grand Cape Mount County, Western Liberia. (In Liberia, counties are like states in the U.S.) Lord willing, we will be starting another new church in Kakata, Margibi County, very soon. The church is also training 4 men to become future preachers.
Please pray with us for the health of Brother Robert Saye (another Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa graduate) who had a stroke in March. Brother Robert is the pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Gbarnga, Bong County, Liberia. Also pray with us that the Lord will use us to complete our vision of starting 15 churches in all the 15 counties of Liberia. We have already started 6 churches, with 9 more to go. Thank you very much for your prayers and financial support for the ministry in Liberia. God bless you.
Bro. George M. Menyon
