God has been very good to our family here in Guarulhos, Brazil, over the past two months. We have seen Him provide and protect, and we are seeing the Holy Spirit working in the lives of our converts. In the life of a missionary, there are seasons of joy and also seasons of uncertainty. While there has been some uncertainty here in the recent past, it has been a joyful time in watching the Lord build His church. Thank you so much for having a part in the work here.
A couple of weeks ago, a Spanish couple we have known for some time approached me about starting a Bible study with them in their home. They had been out of church for some time; but they had a new family living with them, and that family had been asking about churches. There were 9 people in attendance for that first meeting, and 5 of them trusted Christ! This past week, I held the second meeting, and at least 4 of them have now committed to following the Lord in believer’s baptism.
In the Brazilian congregation, I had the great joy last week to baptize our daughter Mahaela. Our church members have truly taken a personal responsibility as individuals to find a place to serve in the church. We have people helping in the nursery, in the children’s church, and in picking up families for church. We have also had a few of them begin to come out soul winning with us as well. This is a very big step for them, as they are highly averse to confrontation.
Please pray with us for the continued growth of our people. We owe a big “thank you” to the churches and individuals who gave to help us purchase a church van; Lord willing, we will have an update on that in our next prayer letter. Also, please pray with us that the Lord will raise up laborers here from within Brazil to go out and start churches all across the country. We would also ask you to pray with us for an evangelism conference that we are going to have next month. One of the big goals we have for our church is for it to be a soul-winning, soul-conscious church. We pray the conference will be used to fan that flame.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We are joyful at the fruit that we are seeing in our people’s lives here, but there is still much work to do. May God be pleased with all of us as we work in His harvest.
Declaring His glory,
Wes Palla
