I thank God for a wonderful month here in Ghana. The month began with my staff, pastor, and family surprising me at lunchtime with a birthday party! Maria walked/took a taxi with the two youngest to get to the church. John and Joy took a break from school to join us too. I really enjoyed the fellowship and the meal!!! Then as the month began to wind down, our church enjoyed what we called an “Easter Homecoming.” Many of our daughter churches joined us for the service, which included special preaching, dinner on the grounds, and games.
He Saw the Sign
Several years ago, Otchere Boachie saw Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa advertised on our church billboard. (His name is pronounced oh’-chur-ee bwah’chee.) He came to church, enquiring about our college. His first lesson was a Gospel presentation, after which he got saved! He soon enrolled in our college and has received a diploma, but he is now working on a degree. His desire is to one day become a missionary to another country in Africa.
Serving the Saviour
Otchere is very active in our church. He is a bus captain and a soul winner. Just about every week, he has a convert down the aisle and baptized.
Serving Together
Not only do I get to teach Otchere in our Bible college, but he works on my staff helping me with our Sunday school class. Just this past Saturday morning, he and I were able to pray together during our class prayer meeting. Each week he and I meet to discuss the spiritual needs of our Sunday school class members. He helps me call them and visit them during the week. During Sunday school he preaches the Gospel to first-time visitors. During our visitor program in March, he brought 6 adult visitors to my class and had 2 of them baptized. Please pray that Colossians 1:9-11 would be true in Otchere’s life.
Thank you for believing in us.
Michael, Maria, John, Joy, Faith, and Ben
