We thank God for the precious time we were able to spend with friends, family, and supporting churches these last two months. Although we were apprehensive about the trip due to COVID-19 restrictions, God blessed in a marvelous way. When we arrived back in Ghana on July 25, we hit the ground running! At the airport that morning, John shared the Gospel with a Muslim man who was very receptive. On Sunday, July 26, a lady Maria had invited to church months earlier came to church for the first time. Then on Monday, July 27, I went to renew my driver’s license here in Ghana; I won a taxi driver, Kwame Michael, on the way to the license branch and witnessed to another receptive Muslim, Muhammed Sala, on the way back home. This is how our lives felt during our furlough—busy and blessed!
Blessings from the Last Two Months
• We thank the Lord for 18 negative COVID tests—6 before we left Ghana and 12 on the way back. We thank Him for providing the funds to cover these extra costs.
• In our past two letters, we mentioned our need for new desks for our Bible college. Praise the Lord for providing the $5,500 needed! Thank you to all who contributed! The desks have now been ordered.
• In June, we met the owner of a shipping company who has helped us with getting items shipped to Ghana. After dropping off a few things to be shipped, I had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with this kind gentleman. He saw that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone and not by our good works.
• At the end of June, we had a wonderful reunion with some of our former bus riders from our days in Bible college. They came to the church service at Valley Baptist Church in Oswego, Illinois. After the service, Maria and I were able to win two of their children to Christ!
• We went soul winning twice with Midwest Bible Baptist Church in Rochester, Minnesota. We won one gentleman named Austin to Christ. We also met two ladies who were very interested in attending the church. What a blessing it was to get a report from the church that one of the ladies visited the next Sunday!
• My son and I had another opportunity mid-July to go soul winning with my dad. That day we were able to win a man named Rick to Christ in the small town of Ironto, Virginia, where I grew up. By my count, our family was used to win 13 souls to Christ during our furlough. This was an answer to prayer for open doors.
• While were we in the States, another lady Maria invited came to church. She has attended Mrs. Speer’s Sunday school class several times now.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for our Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference, which is being held August 10-13. The theme is “Building Stronger Marriages.” Pastor John Wilkerson of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, will be our guest speaker. Please pray for many marriages to be helped!
