Abbie and I have been very blessed during the past two months! Abbie’s special blessing happened at Christmas. Abbie’s mom was adopted as an infant and only discovered her biological mother in the summer of 2014. All of Abbie’s grandparents had died years ago, so imagine her excitement when she found out she has a living grandma! Then, on Christmas Day, Abbie finally got to meet her grandma and several other relatives. What a blessing!
We have experienced many other blessings because of deputation as well. I greatly enjoyed going to my hometown for the first time in over a year. I got to spend time at the church in which I grew up and at a Spanish-speaking sister church. It was great to be able to see and talk to old friends and people who influenced me for Christ when I was a teenager.
I also enjoyed getting reconnected with two of my high school teachers! Bro. and Mrs. Clark were staff members at the church running the Christian school I attended. I remembered Bro. Clark especially as a man who cared about us students. Eleven years later I got to present my future ministry in the church Bro. Clark pastors! It was such a blessing to get to spend that time with the Clarks and their church.
Abbie and I have also been blessed by the new people we meet on deputation. It has been such a privilege getting to know pastors, staff members, and faithful lay people at the churches we visit. When we are in missions conferences, we also enjoy getting to know the other missionaries. They are a great group of people, and we get to be identified with them!
We are thankful that all of our travels have been uneventful and ask that you continue to pray for our safety. Please also continue to pray that we will be able to go on full-time deputation soon. I believe we are getting close, but we need your prayers. We are looking forward to traveling more so that we can get to Ghana sooner!
Yours for souls,
Micah Christiansen
