Larae Hoff Prayer Letter: Medical Clinics and Bible ClubsAs we enter this season of giving thanks, there is much for which I have to be thankful. I am thankful that we can bring our requests before God and for those who have prayed for me. A week ago, I got sick with an awful sore throat/tonsillitis. Due to my not being in school, our teachers messaged me, saying they were praying for me. Folks in America also messaged me on Facebook. Thank you for your faithful prayers. Thank you for praying for my storage totes and donated toys to come. They arrived on the shipping container on October 13! Praise God! No, the customs officials haven’t told us yet about the cost of the taxes for the items.

November 2-8, a group from America came to do medical clinics. They did them in a few locations near our main church. Some of our Christian school staff went and assisted in different ways. Due to several of them going to assist, we were busier than usual in the school, so I helped in the classes that do PACEs. Our staff would come in the morning and tell me about the folks they met and those who got saved! I got to see the last clinic day and help for a short time in the triage area. Praise God for the 1,652 souls saved! Please pray about the follow-ups that will be made.

On October 18, I was in Bohyen for a weekend and was blessed to help in the Saturday Bible Club there and see how it is going. Before I went to Mamponteng, I trained some ladies to do this Bible Club. Wow! These ladies—Rhoda, Felicia, Pat, Edna, and Mavis—are doing great! They have an average of 60-80 children who come, and they have decided to keep it at a permanent location. Some of these children come to the Saturday soul-winning meeting, a large handful come to the Sunday morning service, and there are about 10 who come Sunday and/or Wednesday nights. Praise the Lord! On October 24, I had my last weekend in Mamponteng. It’s been exciting to see their workers grow in their understanding of Bible Clubs and the church’s children’s ministries. There has been a lot of growth in their Junior Church! Please continue to keep them in prayer as they work to reach the parents of the children also. This school term, I was able to help with the public-school ministry at a school that allowed us to come 1 day a week for 8 weeks. I taught the Gospel to the second through fourth grade classes. We had about 97 students total, and one week, they were all in one classroom—that was a joy! Please pray for the children who made salvation decisions to grow in their faith.

Wow! It’s been exciting to travel to the daughter churches. Each Friday, I stop at the market and get groceries for the national pastor’s house. At the big markets, I usually ask one of the ladies there to help carry my items. Once, I went to give my helper a tract and asked Emmanuel, my driver, to help me invite her to church because she wasn’t understanding my Twi. It was exciting to hear him say it with enthusiasm. Please pray for Emmanuel to grow as a Christian.

On November 7, I started helping at the next daughter church, Fundamental Baptist Church of Kunsu. I’m helping to train Emmanuel, Esther, Yaw, Dashaun, Priscilla, along with Pastor and Mrs. Naab. We’ve seen new children come each Sunday morning as a result of the Bible Clubs. Please pray for their parents to come to church also. School is busy but going well. Please pray for our teachers to have wisdom to teach their students. On December 18, our first grade through high school students at Fundamental Baptist Academy will be doing a Christmas play. Please pray for the students as they prepare, and pray that some of their unsaved parents/relatives will come and hear the Gospel for the first time.

Christmas time is coming soon. I will be helping the ladies with their Bible Club in Bohyen on December 22. We will be doing Christmas Bible Clubs in Kunsu on December 19 & 20. December 15-17, I will be teaching Christmas lessons in the preschool chapels at FBA. I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I pray that your celebrations of our Saviour’s birthday will be special. Thank you for being a blessing to me and the ministries here in Ghana!
