I need to start this letter by sincerely apologizing. A few of you have reached out in the last few weeks inquiring about our most recent letter, which unbeknownst to us, was August. We were positive that we had sent out an update after the birth of our daughter Adalynne, but it is nowhere to be found. We had planned on sending an update this month, but what we did not realize was how overdue it was. Again, we are so sorry. I will do my best to cover these last few months as best as possible.
Our daughter, Adalynne Michelle, was born on August 28 in Dar es Salaam. Adalynne is now almost four months old and is the best baby! Landon absolutely adores her. We were able to take her to the States for her first Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our families are loving the newest addition to our family as much as we are! We are very grateful that we can make a visit home where we can prioritize our families and friends.
Kellie resumed teaching her Sunday school class in October. She was unsure how teaching a class with a newborn was going to go, as there is no infant nursery, but there have always been plenty of volunteers to hold Adalynne during class time. We are thankful that a family stepped up and taught her class for those six weeks she was on maternity leave. It was such a blessing to Kellie to know that her class was in good hands. My Sunday school class is averaging in the high- 50s during the school year. I have had as many as 65 in my class!
The church held a 5-week-long promotion. The big days included Insurance Sunday, Friends Sunday, Good Neighbor Sunday, Baptismal Sunday, and Kids’ Sunday. We had a visiting group from Arizona in October that helped with Kids’ Day. Over 20 children received the free gift of salvation! We are still running 13 Bible Clubs each week, but one Bible Club in particular just celebrated its 30th Anniversary! This Bible Club was started by Pastor Jerry Wyatt Jr. when they first moved to Tanzania. One of our staff men was reached through this club as a 5-year-old boy. Both he and his wife serve on the church staff and are faithful members. My Bible Club is averaging mid-50s to high-60s in attendance. The record was broken recently with 80 in attendance!
I resumed piano classes for 6 weeks. There has been a demand for a beginner’s class since I started formally teaching piano to our Sunday school students. I am now teaching 24 students over the span of 3 classes.
Our Fall Festival for our English Sunday school students was at the end of October. This is always a well-attended event, with games, prizes, and dinner, followed by a sermon by Pastor Wyatt.
Our hearts grieved when a longtime, faithful church member passed away. This elderly gentleman had a heart for the young people in his village, and he faithfully brought children to church for many years.
The week before we left, the church hosted Medical Missions Outreach. MMO set up a vision clinic for four days. Everyone who was seen by the clinic received a free eye exam and glasses. At the end of the exam, a team of soul winners was waiting to share the Gospel with them. There were 2,004 people seen through the clinic that week, and 901 trusted in Jesus for their salvation! We love partnering with Medical Missions Outreach. They are always a blessing to our staff and community.
Our lives have been completely changed this year with the birth of our daughter. We are very thankful for her and for the joy she has brought to us. Having her visit family for her first major holidays has been special.
We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are thankful for each and every one of you who make our ministry possible.
