March and April were tumultuous months for our personal health. After a two-week bout with parasites in February, I contracted typhoid fever on March 1, and Theresa came down with the same the next day. We have had a difficult time rebounding physically, so we were advised by our mission board to go to the States. Presently, May 3, we are searching for a doctor in Florida who specializes in tropical diseases.
While still in Haiti, after the fevers subsided, we were able to function some days or sections of days. From March 29 through April 2, we opened the church doors for our one-week Easter Seminar, averaging 250 young people for each day. Along with feeding everyone breakfast and lunch, we had 5 classes daily, where we taught on the doctrine of God. I believe there were 12 salvation decisions on Friday.
We did not conduct as many Bible Clubs in March and April as we would have liked, but with what we were able to accomplish, we averaged over 100 young people and parents in each club on Saturday mornings, with 28 receiving Christ. Since our last letter, 4 more accepted Christ in Junior Church.
On March 20, our Dorcas Club ladies helped us put together another 95 food bags. We were able to distribute the food after the morning service the next day.
Thank you once again for taking the time to read our letter. Theresa and I are grateful for your prayers and financial support.
Respectfully,
Keith and Theresa Baker
