Gregg and Angela Schoof Prayer Letter: Building the Radio Tower!

We have been so busy these past two months! I made two trips down to Burundi: 2½ weeks in August and 3½ weeks in September. It takes us a full 24 hours to travel the 450 miles, with crossing two borders: Uganda to Tanzania to Burundi.

During the first trip, I bought steel angle iron, cut it to size, and drilled the holes; and I had some men dig the foundation hole 10 foot square and 8 foot deep. They worked hard! We put in the galvanized legs, placed rebar all over, and then poured the cement. Then we went back to Uganda in order to give the cement a few weeks to harden before continuing.

On the second 3½-week trip, we built most of the tower. We reached about 30 meters, and we have one more 6-meter section to add on top. It is just a very slow process, and I also chose to move cautiously to avoid any accidents. It will be about 120 feet tall when it is finished.

On November 1, we will go back down again to finish the tower and start building the studio. We still need $10,000 just for the studio. This is urgent; we have to start broadcasting by the end of the year! I will be reusing the radio equipment I brought out of Rwanda.

I would like to thank some churches that have sent special offerings for the radio station over the past several months. The cost for the tower was several thousand dollars more than expected, but it is paid for. And for $1,000, I was able to get a local engineering company to certify what we did. He was very happy with how strong I built the tower, and the tower certification will help avoid any future paperwork problems with the government.

In these two months at Kitendi Baptist Church, we saw 7 saved out soul winning, as I was gone most of those 2 months. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
