Sydney opened up “non-essential” businesses and places in limited capacities on October 11 for people who have been fully vaccinated or had a medical exemption. Unfortunately, that didn’t include our family. We are still under the same restrictions, but we’ve found ways to be creative. We’re still allowed to exercise outside our homes, so my wife and I take that opportunity to put Gospel tracts in letterboxes as we exercise for the Lord!
We’ve been able to finish applying for the last of our necessary things. We now have Australian bank accounts and Australian driver’s licenses, and we’ve applied for Medicare. By your generous giving, we’ve been able to purchase a used vehicle in which to get around. Mindy even drove for the first time on the right side of the car on the left side of the road!
In October, we celebrated two birthdays in our family: mine and Rhys’s. We had a sweet time with my family, who all live in Sydney. Many thanks to all of you who sent birthday cards, emails, text messages, and messages on social media! It’s great to know we have a support team back in America who are thinking about and praying for us!
Towards the end of the month, churches were allowed to meet in person for services! We were so excited! We took the time to first visit one of our supporting churches in Australia. We met at the park, since there are still some restrictions on indoor worship. I had the honour to share the Word of God! There were many people at the park, so after the service, we walked around giving Gospel tracts to people there. Please pray for a young man I spoke to named Sundeep. He was a Hindu and had hesitations about believing in God. He relied on his experiences for his source of belief. Sydney is so diverse in culture and religion. Please pray for hearts to be open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
We still have a long road ahead of us, and we covet your prayers through this time. Our family has adjusted well considering the circumstances. The children are taking a little longer time to adjust, but I’m sure that once things start to open up for us, it will get better. We have not been able to survey where we would like to begin a church, and we ask for the Lord’s wisdom in that matter. Thank you for your faithful support, and we pray that God will continue to bless you in your part of the globe!
Your servant in Christ,
Garry Tingson
