I never get tired of seeing the Lord at work in the lives of people. I invited Jorge to church for the first time about five years ago without any success. However, last January I went to visit his brother-in-law, who comes to our church, and found that he had been talking to Jorge about salvation. I found out that Jorge had accepted Jesus several years earlier but had gotten out of church. Once again I invited him to visit our church. I was surprised when he told me that he would come to the next service. This was the first time he had actually committed himself to coming. The next service he was there, and a week has not passed that he has not been in one of the services. Since he started coming to church, his wife, who was very involved in worldly parties and drinking, has gotten saved and started coming to church also. He since has been baptized and made many decisions for the Lord. Alba, his wife, has quit going to the night clubs and started bringing friends and family members to church with her. Pray that Jorge and Alba would continue to grow spiritually and that they would have an influence in their families.
This year we have nine young people studying in our Bible institute. Many of these started coming to church as children when I started it over eight years ago. Now they are preparing to serve the Lord full-time. One man, Marvin, moved here last December from the States. Eight years ago he left his wife and newborn daughter to go to the States in order to make money to build his house. While he was there, he started going to a Baptist church and got called to pastor. He came back to Guatemala, got reacquainted with his family, and enrolled in our Bible institute with his wife. This family has been a real blessing to have in the church. Please pray for Marvin, Flor, and their daughter Helen as they prepare to start a church in the next year or two.
Luke 10:2 says, “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Please pray for our missions conference coming up June 25-28. This year we will be emphasizing the need to start churches here in our department of Chimaltenango. Please pray with us that our Faith Promise giving would go up and that the Lord would call our people to go into His harvest.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. We are honored to be your representatives to the precious people of Guatemala.
