Merry Christmas from our family to yours! We are so thankful for our brothers and sisters in Christ who lift up our names in prayer on a regular basis. Our travels over the last two-plus months have shown evidence of your prayers for protection and provision in the work of the Lord. The churches in Thailand are continuing strong in the Lord. We ask for your prayers as they prepare and host various special Christmas ministry events. Please pray that the many Thai people curious about Christmas will come to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour as a result of these activities and church services.
Over the last two-plus months, we have traveled from coast to coast and back again, sharing what the Lord is doing in Thailand with 22 churches. It has been encouraging to visit you, our supporting churches, and rejoice together over what God has done. Your faithfulness on this side of the world motivates us to continue our service on the other side. We praise the Lord that 3 of the churches we have been in were new churches that have chosen to invest in God’s work in Thailand. We rejoiced to see Sarah’s mom and dad celebrate 50 years of marriage through a special “renewing of the vows” ceremony. Harmony, our 16-year-old daughter, has been able to visit Bible colleges while traveling in the States. Our family also made an educational visit to Washington D.C. In those 2 days, we visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, the House and Senate inside the Capitol Building, along with a White House visit.
As we travel from place to place, the Lord gives opportunities to pass out tracts and be a witness for Him. It is so important for us to ask the Lord daily to help us see the open doors in front of us. Three of the people we spoke with were ripe unto harvest. One man, Carlos, was a Catholic who was in a hurry at first, but as I began to give him the Gospel, he slowed down and wanted to hear more. After accepting Christ as his Saviour, he said he was so thankful that I would take the time to show him something so important. This man’s salvation was extra special to me, because it was in the same apartment complex where I was able to lead my very first soul to Christ many years ago.
A huge blessing to share about God’s provision and protection: As we were driving through the deserts of Nevada, our van’s engine began to give out. Nevada towns are very few and far between in the desert, but God allowed the engine to start going out 14 miles from the nearest town. We began to pray and, like the little engine that could, barely chugged into a garage. We did not know it, but it was Nevada Day. Most shops were closed for the holiday, but not the one the Lord led us to. We also did not know that the shop was owned by a Christian man, but God knew. The workers spent three hours fixing the van so that we could get back on the road, and we spent three hours fellowshipping with a brother in Christ. Once the van was repaired, the owner of the shop refused to let us pay. Only God could have orchestrated a way to meet our needs in such a fashion. Your prayers for missionaries make such a difference.
The churches in Thailand continue to see many souls saved each week as they faithfully go out and share the good news. Our Nong Phlap church hosted Christmas Sunday on their new land, exceeding 400 in attendance, with many souls saved. We greatly miss these dear people and are looking forward to our return on January 22. Please continue to pray for safety in our travels.
Merry Christmas,
