Thank you to everyone who sent a “Happy Birthday” to Lydia. She turned three in March, and many of you sent emails, texts, or e-cards wishing her a happy birthday. It was a fun one since this is the first birthday that she has actually been excited for. We miraculously found a big dinosaur balloon, which was a big hit with Lydia.
In March, we had the privilege to host our sending pastor, Chris Droullard, for a visit. We have wanted to have him come for some time, but it had never worked out. However, since our sending church had adopted Word of Life Baptist Church, it was the perfect opportunity for him to see our work here in Nigeria and the new church plant. We enjoyed showing him a slice of our life in Abuja, and then we traveled 12 hours by road to Okuku in southern Nigeria to see the new church plant.
While we were there, we had 3 days of services with both Word of Life Baptist Church, as well as the sending church that started Word of Life. It was wonderful seeing the new church have a full house, with almost 40 people at each service we preached. I am so excited about what God is going to do through this church. The church is currently meeting in the pastor’s home. However, we were able to buy land for the church near a main hub of the city. Please pray for the preparation of the land, as well as for the finances to build a meeting place for the church.
At the beginning of the year, I mentioned the opportunity for churches to “adopt” a new church here in Nigeria, and several churches have let us know that they want to adopt new churches. We are so excited that several churches will be started or helped that much sooner because of your generosity and giving. I can’t wait to keep you all updated about what God will do!
