This prayer letter has been delayed longer than I would like. Since our last prayer letter came out in July, we have had some major sicknesses in our family. Each week since we sent our last prayer, at least one member of our family has been sick. This includes one hospital stay for Lydia and a couple of hospital stays for Emily. Between malaria, typhoid, and intestinal parasites, it has certainly been an interesting couple of months. Please continue to pray for the health of our family. We do seem to be on the mend, but all this sickness has definitely taken its toll.
Fortunately, we were healthy long enough to be involved with SMITE week in our church. For those who don’t know, SMITE is Student Mission Institute for Training in Evangelism. We have teens from churches across Nigeria come to learn how to run Bible Clubs for children back in their areas. This year, God used SMITE to see 26 Bible Clubs take place in our area, with 1,300 children attending, 780 children getting saved, and over 100 teens being trained to run Bible Clubs. I personally prayed with a few teen young men who surrendered to full-time ministry throughout the week. I know there were more, although I don’t have the exact numbers on those. It was exciting to see another generation of Nigerian youth excited to serve God in reaching the lost for Christ and preparing to preach the Gospel.
Providence Baptist Bible College and Seminary has begun its new semester with a record number of students enrolled. Please pray as I work with these young men in training for the ministry. Many of these men are hoping to plant new independent Baptist churches in areas where there currently are none. We believe God can and will do great things and will use us and them to plant them.
That all the world may know,
