The theme for Anchor Baptist Church in 2016 is taken from Romans 13:11, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” We are striving to make this year the best year we have ever had! Now is the time for born-again believers everywhere to strive for excellence in the cause of Jesus Christ.
As we have had time to reflect on 2015, we give God all the glory for the souls saved, baptized, and added to the church. In the last several months of the year, we were encouraged to see four new families join Anchor Baptist Church! The Lord continues to allow us to meet in the Cameron Recreation Centre. We had our fist service in this centre in June of 2001. Towards the end of the year, we did run into a bit of a problem with one of the staff. Needless to say, we covet your prayers regarding our meeting place.
Many of you will remember the John and Romans mailing we did just before our anniversary service in early June. Over 30,000 John and Romans were delivered to the community near our church. There were a number of visitors that came to the anniversary service as a result. Another blessing from the mailing occurred in the second week of the New Year. A young lady from Korea and a gentleman from Central America came to our evening service. They both had a copy of the John and Romans with them. Over six months after they were delivered, the Lord continues to bless the delivery of His Word!
Becky’s father, Jim Bailey, is improving greatly after being diagnosed with brain and liver cancer. The treatments he is receiving are working, and we praise the Lord! Our son Caleb is a sophomore in Bible college. He still has his sights set on being a missionary to Uganda. Brianna is in Grade 11, and Emma is in Grade 6. They both play an important role in the ministry. Becky and I are thankful to the Lord for the three children God has given to us.
Please know that we are praying for you, and we are grateful for your faithful financial and prayer support!
Your friend,
Ben Turner
