“Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.” (I Samuel 12:24)
Coastline Baptist Church recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, a time to reflect on the great things the Lord has done here in Devonport. The Lord has worked through this church over these years to see souls saved and lives changed. Two young men from the church are in Bible college; another young man has graduated from Bible college (bringing a wife back with him!) and is preparing to start a church in Hobart, Tasmania. Other young men who attended as teens are now mature, married men who are faithful and actively involved in the church. Many in the church are faithful soul winners. With the recent addition of a missionary to Sri Lanka, the church now supports seven missionaries. God truly has done great things!
While we have witnessed to several seasonal workers from Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides) over the last five years, in the past few months, the Lord has opened the door to have a weekly Bible study with a group of the workers. Nathan, a young man from Coastline, came faithfully to help. He is preparing to go to Vanuatu for three months to assist one of our missionaries there. He is a builder by trade, and he will be able to use those skills, as well as help in the church and outreach. Nathan, his wife Joy, and their baby Percy are taking this trip by faith, seeking the Lord’s will regarding future ministry.
Nathan used his carpentry skills to construct a new pulpit. The church presented this as a surprise for Pastor Westbrook on the church’s Anniversary Sunday. Mrs. Westbrook received a bouquet of flowers. They and their family started the church and have served faithfully.
We have requested prayer for John, a man who has attended the church from almost the very beginning. He was diagnosed with liver cancer in March 2018. In spite of treatment, he has continued to worsen. A group from church visited him on Saturday to sing some hymns and be an encouragement to him and to family members who have come from out of state. He will likely be in Heaven before this letter is received. Please pray for our church and that his Homegoing will result in the salvation of family and friends he has desired to be saved. He has been a witness to many, including his doctors.
Please continue to pray for:
• The salvation of more souls.
• The Vanuatu Bible Study to grow next year.
• Nathan, Joy, and Percy as they prepare for their mission trip.
• A building for the church to buy or lease.
• Our health. I am getting my DBS battery replaced June 6, and Laura is continuing to battle breast cancer.
We also remain steadfast in our prayers for your co-labor in seeking the lost. Thank you again for your ongoing support. We love you all, in the service of our King.
All for His glory,
Bro. Andrew Steers
