“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:38)
To God be the glory; great things He hath done. Sometimes we think we made a mistake, but God had a plan. Recently, Silas and I were in Bangkok for a Bible Conference, and we had a little time between meetings. We decided to go to Chatuchak Market. It is a very huge market that sells almost everything. Silas enjoys it because of all of the animals. He loves them, and they love him. The trains are color-coded in Bangkok, so if you know which train goes to where you want to go, it is pretty easy to navigate the city. We knew the Blue Line and the Green Line both went to Chatuchak Park, which is beside the market, so we jumped on the Red Line train and started our journey.
We were planning to switch to the Blue Line to go to the park and then walk through the park to the market, passing out tracts along the way. A couple of stops before the Blue Line connection, they announced over the speakers that the next stop was Chatuchak. So, we quickly got up and stepped off, thinking we had just saved time and hassle, only to find out that we were nowhere near the market. The Red Line is not like the others in Bangkok that have a train every 3 minutes or so; the Red Line only runs every 20 minutes. We decided to wait for the next train instead of getting a taxi and fighting traffic. We went to sit down beside a very elderly lady who was also waiting on the next train. I told Silas, “Let’s not take time for you to interpret for me; just try to share the Gospel with her yourself, because we don’t know when the train will come.”
Would you believe it that in all of the millions of people in Bangkok, we would sit down beside a lady who had been going to a church and trying to learn about God? Silas asked her if that church had told her how to go to Heaven, and she said no but said she wanted to go. “I can show you how to go to Heaven,” Silas replied. Her face lit up, and then he took the Scriptures and introduced her to the Saviour. In just a little while, the frail little lady bowed her head and called on the Lord Jesus. Praise the LORD! I love divine appointments!
There were several other blessings. Another of Silas’ old friends came to Christ. This time, it was one of his friends he grew up with. Gon, his friend, came to pick up something from him, and while they were talking, Silas asked Gon about his soul. Gon was very receptive to the Gospel and trusted Christ as his Saviour. Silas was extremely happy that his childhood friend had come to Christ. Also, the step-daughter of Nueng, one of our faithful members, came with her mom to see what church was all about. Praise the Lord, Ing Fah sweetly chose to believe what God said and was saved that morning.
Please pray for Ing Fah, as her dad is a non-believer and keeps her involved in many activities that prevent her from coming to church. Pray also for her dad’s salvation. Please keep praying with us for a van.
We love you all and thank you for your faithful prayers and support! May God bless you and your work for Him there, as we work for Him here.
Yours for His harvest,
Andrew & Denise Long
