This has been a great month. Joy turned 16 on the 4th, and Faith turned 12 on the 20th—but we miss John! He flew back to Indiana at the end of October; he is completing his internship this semester at the FBMI office.
New Church Plant
As we presented in churches during our furlough earlier this year, we told about our Bible college graduates, Bro. Louis and Mrs. Josephine Gyamfi, who would soon be leaving our ministry to plant a church in the northern part of Ghana. Brother Louis was ordained on the last Sunday in October, and then he and his family moved to the northern town of Nandom. They have already started winning souls and discipling converts. Please pray for God to use Louis, Josephine, Judson, Maria, and Zain Gyamfi in an amazing way up there in Nandom of the Upper West Region of Ghana.
Medical Clinics
Our team held 7 medical clinics, which served over 2,100 people. Each person received a one-on-one presentation of the Gospel; 1,652 professed their faith in Christ. Praise God! Pastor Speer had asked me to hold a refresher course for our vision-clinic workers on Saturday, and then I helped in the clinic for our church on Sunday. Joy worked in the vision section all week, helping to find just the right pair of used eyeglasses for those in need. Maria supervised extra days in our Christian school to free up some soul winners for the clinics.
Another Maria
Our staff man, Stephen Opoku, reached a lady named Gladys Adu on his bus route. Gladys invited her neighbors, Mercy Boatemaa and Akosua Nyamekye. All three attend our Sunday school class. When Akosua first came, she was great with child and long past her due date. Our church and staff began praying; soon Akosua delivered a baby girl. Akosua was so happy for God answering our church’s prayers that when my wife and I visited her, she decided to name her daughter Maria Theresa after my wife. (What a great name!) And then this past Sunday, her neighbor Mercy, who had previously trusted Christ, followed the Lord in baptism.
Concern for a Friend
Last month, I requested prayer for our convert Patrick. Another answer to prayer is that we were able to win Patrick’s girlfriend Evelyn and two of the neighbor children to Christ. Then a few weeks later, Patrick (below in the yellow shirt) took us to witness to his friend Collins (below in red). As we preached the Gospel to Collins, Patrick chimed in a few times to help explain to Collins my point. I usually would not let someone interrupt, but I did not want to quench Patrick’s zeal, and in this situation, his input helped. After we were done, Patrick asked for the Bible references so that he could share the Gospel in his home village. Pray for these new converts to grow in grace.
Thank you for praying for our family and for the work here!
