Crusade
This year marked our 10th Annual Tanzanian Stadium Crusade. Although we originally planned to hold it in Dar es Salaam, the Lord closed that door. Instead, we focused on Morogoro, holding one main crusade on Saturday and two smaller crusades in nearby villages on Monday and Tuesday. The Lord blessed the main crusade on Saturday with over 3,500 in attendance, and 821 people turned in decision cards, indicating they had trusted Christ as their Saviour. We were honored to have Olympic legend John Stephen Akhwari with us as our special guest. He was an encouragement and inspiration to us all to “keep running the race.”
Soccer Sunday
The day after our Saturday crusade was Soccer Sunday. This is always an exciting day, as scores of teenage boys and men come with their soccer teams to receive a soccer ball. This Sunday, there were over 1,200 in attendance, with 120 trusting Christ.
Village Crusades
For the first time this year, we held two smaller crusades in villages. The first was in the village of Kiloka, located behind the mountains that surround our city.
Unbeknownst to us, before we arrived, the village soccer team scheduled to play the Pensacola soccer team had performed witchcraft rituals on the field to curse the church team and give power to their village team. During halftime, as we always do, I preached the Gospel message. We raised a large wooden cross in the center of the field, and I preached about the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. After losing the game 3-0, a member of the village team told one of our church men, “Your God was stronger than ours. We lost because you brought the cross.” Nearly 2,000 people heard the Gospel message, and we praise the Lord that, through the power of the Cross of Christ, 245 people turned in decision cards, indicating they had trusted in Jesus as their Saviour during this village crusade.
The following day, we held another village crusade in Misongeni. Again, there was a tremendous turnout, and the Lord moved mightily. In this village, 1,358 people attended the crusade, with 172 trusting Christ.
All in all, during the 4 days of soccer outreach, over 8,000 people heard a clear presentation of the Gospel, and 1,358 trusted Christ as their personal Saviour. There is power in the blood! We are so thankful to Marion Avenue Baptist Church for helping to host these events and to Pensacola Christian College’s men’s soccer team for coming to play in these crusades!
Building Faith
Please continue to pray for the second stage of our Building Faith project. The foundation has been laid, the walls have been erected, and the roof is ready to be installed. We are in desperate need of these classrooms and space, and we are praying that God will allow the building process to continue moving along quickly and smoothly.
