We hope you all are having a great time preparing for Christmas. Our second year on the mission field and we are still adjusting to 90 degrees in December. We’re grateful not to be freezing, but having a warm instead of white Christmas still feels strange to us.
We want to thank God for His protection. He is always taking care of us. We had a small fire in our home recently due to an electrical surge, causing some faulty wiring in our house to catch fire. We thank God for many things regarding this situation. We were at home when it happened and could put a stop to it just as it was starting. No one was injured, and none of our possessions were irreparably damaged. Who knows what would have happened if we had not been around? When we had an electrician come to our house to fix the wiring, I invited him to come to church. He told me, “I will try.” That is a very common response, which usually means they won’t be coming. I responded by telling him, “I’d love to see you before Christmas!” I was quite honestly shocked and overjoyed when I saw him sitting in our morning service last Sunday. It was even greater that he accepted Christ as his Saviour after the service!
One of the great things I get to do in working with our Bible college students is run something we call “Preachers’ Meeting.” Twice a month, the students preach to each other while I give them feedback and help to improve their preaching. It has been encouraging to see the growth in preaching from these young men of God. Over the past year or so, I’ve seen so much improvement in boldness in preaching and communicating the Word of God. I can’t wait to see how these men will be preaching the Word of God across Nigeria in the coming years. We have five more students finishing their studies this December. Please pray for all of our Bible college students as they train, especially for those who have finished and will be heading out into the ministry.
As always, thank you so much for your faithful support and prayers. I pray that you all have a wonderful Christmas season, reminded of the great gift we were given when Christ came to earth.
That all the world may know,
Caleb Christiansen
