“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6) We’ve seen the Lord do a lot of works through us and in the lives of others around us these past few months. It is great to know that the Lord will continue to perform in us until His return.
On August 24, Jolie had a massive stroke. She was rushed to the hospital and put into an induced coma. Her stroke also consisted of heart failure, kidney failure, and breathing failure. She was admitted to the intense anesthesiology ward. After being there for two days, they moved Jolie to the neurology ward, where she contracted pneumonia. She was then admitted into another ward (physical therapy), where she was isolated for three weeks. One of the brothers came to stay with me for the four weeks while Jolie was hospitalized, as he had a need and I had a need. Every day, we prayed intensely about Jolie’s recovery. I went to the hospital to visit with her every day and got to be a witness to the doctors and nurses. Jolie was then dismissed from the hospital and returned home, where God provided much help that we needed through our church people and others.
Jolie’s sister came to help be a caregiver. A brother in our church also came for two weeks. We had a dear lady from the U.S. come to stay with us and help Jolie for six weeks. She has done caregiving for many people around the world. She has been a great blessing to us and to the church people. We also have a therapist who comes three times a week, as the doctor advised us to do. We praise the Lord for all of the help God has given to help with Jolie. Jolie’s left arm was limp after the stroke. She is now able to use it to do some things for herself. She is also using a wheelchair to go outside, she is standing up more, and she has started back to church after being bedridden for two months. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Please keep praying for her strength to continue to increase.
During these trying times, God has greatly used one man in our church to help with leading the church services and preaching some. Another man in our church has helped with the preaching in our services. Many of our people here have really been moved to do greater things in our church and for the Lord to encourage the church. It has been amazing to see God do so many things through this trying time.
Our soul-winning ministry has remained active during these times. We have had many visitors attend our meetings during these months of Jolie’s hospitalization. Most of them were brought by people who already attend our services.
We praise the Lord for many visitors in our church. One man who was looking for a church has started coming. Others who have missed have returned. Another man, who has been coming to our church for some time, has brought several visitors who are from Eastern Europe but have lived in Poland for many years. One man, who was a Baptist in Ukraine looking for a church, just recently shared his testimony about how he came to Christ. He was involved in a serious car accident. He was in the back seat between two men, and two men were in the front seat. All four men around him were killed when the car slid on a gravel section of the road and flipped multiple times. He was in a coma for fifty days. He later he went to a Baptist seminary. Pray for Vasil. We also have several new people who are foreigners with Polish ties coming to our services.
More than conquerors,
Paul & Jolie Sock
