“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4)
Our theme for 2023 at Anchor Baptist Church is “Living by the WORD.” It is our desire to grow in our knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, but also in our obedience to God’s Word. Regardless of what is going on around us, we can be sure that God’s Word remains the tested and trusted spiritual food for our souls.
We started the month of December with the baptism of Mohammad and Maryam, as well as Abdullah. Mohammad and Maryam trusted Christ as Saviour in my office back in November. They are both from Iran. Please pray for their son Sam. He is seven years old and attends our Patch Club. Abdullah was already saved when he came to Anchor but had not been scripturally baptized. He just immigrated to Canada from Afghanistan. Please pray with me for the discipleship of these newer believers.
The emphasis of our praises in recent days has been around seeing youth seeking to know God. On January 15, I had the privilege of baptizing Matin (19) and Kian (17). Both of these young men came to know Jesus Christ as Saviour here at Anchor Baptist Church within the last month. They are originally from Iran and were both searching for the truth. Also on January 15, Isabella (18) visited for the first time. She attended the morning and evening service. After watching the baptism, she asked Becky if she could get baptized. This opened the door to discuss spiritual matters, and we found out that Isabella was not saved. She wanted to know what the Bible said about being ready for eternity. Isabella was gloriously saved that evening! She is here attending school and is originally from Colombia. Please pray with us for the spiritual growth of these three young people.
I would also like to re-share several prayer requests from our last update:
• Lost souls are waiting to be won. We continue to see people immigrating to Vancouver from all over the world and especially from Asia.
• Labourers are needed. I have joined in praying with a pastor friend for 100 consecrated labourers for Canada.
• Location is needed. We are still praying for a miracle building. God is able!
Thank you once again for your prayers and financial support.
The Turners,
Ben, Becky, and Emma
