It has been so nice to get back to in-person services since the most recent lockdown ended. We are coming up on a month since we have been able to start meeting together again. While we weren’t exactly sure what to expect, it has been an encouragement to see the Lord at work as we try to see the work move forward here in Salvador, Brazil.
Recently, my soul-winning partner and I were knocking doors, and we met Ivanildo, who thought that he needed to do right to be saved. After spending about 20 minutes explaining that Jesus has already paid the price in full, he bowed his head and asked Jesus to be His personal Saviour. The following day, we went back to give him a booklet, but he wasn’t home. Instead, we met his mother, who was also confused about the true way to Heaven. My partner shared the Gospel with her, and she, too, placed her faith in Jesus to save her. Amen!
Our attendance has been creeping up slowly. A few of our families have not returned since the lockdown, which I’m sure many of you are familiar with, yet we have seen visitors in every Wednesday and Sunday evening service since reopening—that can only be the Lord’s doing! Church-wide soul-winning participation has picked up, and we are getting ready to baptize and disciple some new converts. This is a direct answer to prayer! The next big ministry project that we are looking at will be getting a large van to help pick people up for the services. At this point, we are making three to four trips in cars before church to get folks who need to be picked up. We are grateful for the growth, and we want to do everything possible to get more folks in to hear the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
Thank you so much for praying and giving to reach souls with the Gospel here in Brazil. While the circumstances are certainly inconvenient at times, I am amazed and encouraged to see how God continues to bless in obvious ways in spite of restrictive measures. Please continue to pray with us for souls to be saved. Pray also for two folks who need to get baptized, and pray for wisdom with how to move forward to maintain the growth during this pandemic. We love and appreciate you, and we are praying for you.
Declaring His glory,
Wesley Palla
