Those of you who are reading this apparently survived my two-page letter last month. Rest assured, you will not be required to endure the same hardship this month. As a token of my gratitude for your perseverance and fortitude in the face of said difficulties, I will keep the chit chat to a minimum this month. In all seriousness, we are deeply indebted to you for the consistent prayers, love, and support on our behalf. You are a blessing to us, and we desire to be one to you. For some encouraging news, please read on.
A Trip
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go on a trip to the Brazil/Bolivia border to help with a survey trip for another missionary. What a response we saw! In two days on both sides of the border, we saw over 200 folks ask Jesus to be their Saviour. Many of the families we talked to were ready to start attending church right then! It was a very open city; we are looking forward to what God will do there in the future. Pray for the new church plant there.
The Building
We are meeting this week to try to finalize negotiations on the church property that I mentioned in our last letter. God does much more than we could ever hope to accomplish on our own. Before we had even decided between renting or buying, God had already provided the majority of the funds needed to finish construction on the building. It never ceases to amaze me how much more effective God is at fundraising than I am. I’m hoping He continues to “raise funds” so that we can purchase the building in the near future. For the time being, however, we are trying to rent it for a couple of years. If the owners will accept our proposal, then we are planning to begin the work at the end of this month.
Future Meetings
I wanted to let all of our supporting churches know that we are planning to be back in the States for four to six weeks this fall. Some of you have been faithfully supporting us for six to seven years now without having an in-person update during that time. We are very grateful to you for being so understanding during these past several years. However, if any of our supporting churches would be interested in having us in to give an update, please let me know via email, phone call, Facebook, or carrier pigeon—whichever is your preferred form of contact; and we would be thrilled to spend some time reconnecting and also sharing what the Lord has done over the past couple of years. We will also be attempting to schedule some meetings at new churches as well during this time.
Please keep us in your prayers during this busy time. We are trying to negotiate for a building, finish construction on said building, and then fill said building. Pray for a trip to Chile that I will be taking later this month to help two young churches there. Pray for Cynthia and her pregnancy; we praise the Lord that to this point, everything has been completely normal. And, as always, pray for more souls to be saved here in Brazil. Our country desperately needs to know the truth to be truly free. Thank you. We love you and are praying for you.
Declaring His glory,
Wes Palla
