God’s Faithfulness
July 10, 2020, marks the 27th anniversary of the “Keep the Buses Rolling” ministry. God has led each step of the way. He provided health and safety while enabling us to help many Bus Ministries. We hope to help “keep the buses rolling” for many more years!
In July and August, we helped churches in Michigan, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Indiana. We traveled 4,552 miles, helping 17 churches. God enabled us to help the church mechanics repair 26 buses, putting 6 back on the road that had been off the road. Several mechanics called for help over the phone. By sending a picture of the problem, they were able to fix their buses with our help.
God’s Blessings
Five people accepted Christ as their personal Saviour. Two of those were parents of bus kids. The bus kids’ main prayer is that their parents would trust Christ or that they would come to church. In Kansas, my partner and I signed up two new bus kids on his route. Their mom sweetly trusted Christ as her Saviour. We went away rejoicing!
While in Iowa, our Speedco manager Debra got saved by simply reading our tract. We had our oil changed and had noticed a leak, so we returned to have it checked. Debra told us that she had read the tract we had given her and accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. “So shall my word be . . . it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please . . . .” (Isaiah 55:11)
At home in Indiana, we witnessed to our neighbors, Dennis and his 20-year-old son Cameron. They bowed their heads and trusted Christ as their Saviour. They said they had been listening to our pastor, John Wilkerson, on the radio. Cameron had ridden the Fairhaven Baptist Church bus when he was a young boy. They just moved here, and they are interested in coming to our church. We will keep encouraging them.
God’s Rewards
When we were out West, we were able to visit with our children, Darrin and Beth Highfill and their family and Dave and Kelley Highfill and their family. Also, our Swartz grandchildren, Lorianne and Levi, and our Schoof grandchildren, Caleb and Hannah, are students at Hyles-Anderson College. Our granddaughter, Leslie Swartz, is on staff at the college teaching English. We are so thankful for God’s blessings!
Thank you to those of you who remembered our 18th wedding anniversary with your cards, texts, and messages. Your kind thoughtfulness is so appreciated.
