Thanksgiving Celebration
Our people enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving with us this year. They were very curious about this holiday, as they have heard a lot about it. They were happy to have a time where they could praise God for what He has done in their lives, especially this last year. We had several visitors in church, and I was able to present the Gospel to a young man that day. He hasn’t accepted Christ yet, but he is open. Please pray for his salvation.
Christmas Outreach
Being in a country that is very secular (half of the people have no religion) means we have to find new ways to share the Gospel with those who have no interest in church or spiritual things. This year for Christmas, we decorated cookies and also made a variety of other types of cookies and put them in boxes, along with a Gospel tract, to distribute to friends, family, and people we meet on the street. We had several people come who were interested in what we were as a church and wanted to be a part of something meaningful to people on the streets. We all prayed as a group that God would bless our efforts and prepare the hearts of those who would receive a cookie box.
We had several very good responses from this. One man told us that he had been very touched by the personal gift, which led him to read the tract and, with tears, read the Gospel for the first time. Another man, when given a box, told us with a big smile that it was his birthday that day and he was so excited to receive a gift from our daughter. He promised to read the tract.
2026 Vision
I shared our vision for 2026 with our church and our yearly theme: “Building a Solid Foundation” (I Corinthians 3:11). I emphasized how we as a church need to develop a strong foundation based on Christ in order to be able to have a greater impact for Christ in our city. I also laid out six goals for our church for 2026. One of those goals will be to completely saturate a new neighborhood with the Gospel. Another goal is training several disciplers who can disciple new converts. Please pray that God would work in a mighty way through our church this year for His glory!
Upcoming Furlough
We have been serving in Uruguay for four years and three months. We are planning our first furlough to update our supporters. We will be in the U.S. from July 2026 through December 2026. If you would like us to report back to your church, please send me an email to schedule a meeting: tim.simmons@fbmi.org. We are looking forward to sharing with you what God has done here in spite of the challenges, along with our future vision.
Thank you for faithfully praying for and supporting us.
