Alejandro forcefully threw all of the cigarettes in his pocket on the ground. I had just bluntly told him: “You’ve done a lot of bad things, but it doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past!” I explained to him that God could save him. I could see him begin to tear up as I talked with him. This was a homeless man I met one evening. He had been following Eddy and me, asking for money. A few minutes later, He placed his trust in Christ to save him!
Children’s Day
In Uruguay, Children’s Day is pretty much like a second Christmas for children. This year we decided to host an outreach event with our church family. This is the first event that they got very involved with. Several went out passing out flyers, and one lady even passed them out at the home store she runs. We were able to pass out over 1,000 flyers at three different public schools, two plazas, and door to door. We prayed and worked for a good day; however, the Devil was working against us. First, the forecast called for rain the entire day. Then there was a big neighborhood soccer game with a birthday party immediately afterwards, which many families were all planning on going to. BUT GOD!!!! The game and party were canceled at the last minute, and God held off the rain until an hour after our event had ended. Over 100 people showed up! Our people got very involved with cooking burgers and hotdogs, passing out chips, cookies, and drinks, providing needed equipment, and bringing friends and family to the church. I was able to give a short salvation message in the middle of the event, where over 20 people made a profession of faith in Christ! Our people were so excited to see God do a miracle and bring more people than they could have imagined.
Missions Trip
We hosted a young man named Eddy from our home church for nine days in August. God has called him to be a missionary. He is currently in his final year at Hyles-Anderson College. We were able to show him our ministry, go soul winning, and meet several veteran missionaries here in Uruguay to learn about the different ministries that are here. We were able to visit a town in the interior of Uruguay that has no Baptist church. There I was able to lead Carina to the Lord! It was a great time of fellowship, questions, and getting counsel from older and wiser missionaries, which we greatly appreciated. Please pray for him to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading in his life.
