We are feeling the heat this summer. Yilan’s regular rain has actually been holding back some this last month, and the sun is shining. People are out, and we have had many opportunities to meet new friends. We met M___ recently when we traveled to Taipei. It was a disappointing day at first because we had rented a car to take the whole family up to Taipei to deal with some paperwork, only to be told they couldn’t take care of us then, but in the process, we met M___, who speaks great English. We were able to talk to her some and set up an appointment in the next couple of weeks to meet up with her again. We’re praying that what we thought would be a disappointing, chaotic day will become perfectly ordered in the salvation of M___ and her family.
A New Baby
Coincidentally, the reason we were in Taipei was to handle some of the paperwork for our new baby. So, we are happy to announce the birth of our youngest, N___ B___ S___. R___ and I were both praying about this delivery especially since it was our first overseas. We know many of you were praying as well, and we’re happy to report that the Lord answered that prayer with many little miracles along the way. We do ask that you continue to pray for R___. Her blood pressure was more difficult this pregnancy compared to others, and her doctor still has her on medication. They were expecting her blood pressure to regulate after the delivery; but, since it has persisted, we are seeing a cardiologist to determine how to bring it back to normal.
A New Church Building
In Yilan, while R___ and I are beefing up our language, we are working with the F___s in a new church plant. It’s been an answer to prayer that we have found a building to rent. Until now, we have been meeting in our homes for services, but now will be able to meet in a more central location. It’s near a major market, and we’re praying that the Lord will use this new place to reach and help new believers. There was work that needed to be done on the church before it could be used, but this next Sunday will be our inaugural service.
Keep Praying for H___
If you remember, H___ is a Taiwanese man who has been tutoring me in Mandarin. L___, his girlfriend who tutors Rachel, is already a Christian, but ___ has never trusted in Christ. Recently, we were excited that H___ was willing to come to church at our home. Bro. S___ F___ was able to give him a clear explanation of the Gospel in Mandarin. H___ was not ready to accept Christ then, but I’m sure the Holy Spirit continues to work on his heart. Also, H___ has joined a team of pickleball players (yes, pickleball is becoming popular in Taiwan), and I’ve been going with him to a nearby sports park to play. There are many men who play here, and with the new contacts I’m making there, we’re praying that God would save and call one of them to be the pastor of the new church—I am praying that H___ could even be that man.
We are grateful for all of you who pray with us for each of these requests. Remember that we are praying for you, as we are in this work together. Thank you for your sacrifices for the Lord.
Here for Him,
