Brandon and Ali Heselschwerdt Prayer Letter: Playing Catch UpThe months of July and August have been spent catching up with the ministry since my surgery, as far as Lighthouse Baptist Church of Acacia and the Pastors’ Practical Training Academy go, but we thank God that I am just about back to normal and back into the groove of things here! I am thankful for all of you who have shown so much love and support during this difficult time. I’m also thankful for my family; I could not have done it without them!

We have seen God building His church throughout these last two months, both physically and spiritually. We are thankful for what God is doing in the hearts of those who make up Lighthouse Baptist Church! In July, we started an Outreach Sunday as a church. For most of our people, work is Monday through Saturday, and Sunday is the only day that works for them to do anything at the church. So, one Sunday a month, we all gather together after church for a short lunch and fellowship. Then we pray together and go out to try and either lead someone to the Lord or visit with someone from the church. In July, we were able to see five new souls make professions of faith! It has really encouraged our church family to go out and reach others with the Gospel.

In August, our teens went to Calvary Baptist Church of Ruaka for their annual Teen Conference. This was our third year going! There were two blessings from this year’s conference! First, our teens won the conference against three other churches/teams! Second, and most important, was that when I asked the teens what their favorite part of the conference was, they almost all said it was the preaching! In times past, it has always been the games, but this year God really moved in the hearts of our youth through the preaching of His Word!

Lastly, PPTA . . . we had to cancel the month of July due to political unrest here in Kenya, but thankfully, we were able to start back up in August. The pastors are growing a lot spiritually, and I have heard several great testimonies of what God has been doing through their ministries since they have been applying what they are learning. Please continue to pray for these men to remain faithful throughout the training to make a real difference both in their own spiritual lives and also in the lives of many other souls to come!

As always, thank you so much for your faithfulness so that we can be here in Kenya and continue to be a part of what God is doing and will do in the hearts of so many souls. We cannot do it without your prayers and support.

Brandon and Ali Heselschwerdt Prayer Letter: Playing Catch UpIt has been such a long and difficult time since I have received/accepted the Word of God. There are many of my family members that have rejected me for accepting and following Jesus Christ. I decided to believe, and I have started studying to know the Word of God. This has led to me knowing the Word, and some of the benefits that have come from the Word are knowing that kindness and love of God and that He has given me eternal life.

After I have come to realize how Jesus is so kind to me, I have now taken that opportunity to worship and trust in Him. Nothing is enjoyable like knowing and accepting the good news that has been given us by the Messiah. Believing in Jesus Christ gives me more wisdom and being so courageous in times of temptation.

Through faithfulness, God has strengthened me more to accept His Word only by faith and believing these are the words that give me a hope in Jesus Christ.

We are thankful for what God is doing here at Bongo Baptist Church. Several of the church members and I now go out on different days of the week for visitation and soul winning. Over time, we have seen others come to believe on Christ alone, and some of these have continued on in discipleship and growing as strong church members.

The church is a long distance from where I live. Also, where I live with my family, there also is no Gospel-preaching church. So, I have started two different Bible studies near my home. One consists of my family within my home. When we first started, it was just our immediate family members, but over time, we have grown to a small group of believers from all around our home! The second Bible study is closer to the main road near town, and I have been encouraged to see this grow to a small faithful group of new believers as well. Please pray for me as I seek wisdom to combine these two Bible study groups into one group in the possible future. Also, pray that God will allow these two groups to grow spiritually into one new church plant near my home area and in a new area that does not have anyone preaching the true Gospel!

We thank God for His grace and mercy here in the Ndhiwa Region of Kenya. Please continue to pray for us here as we seek to reach souls for Christ and see Gospel-preaching churches planted.
