I pray you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with family, friends, and the love of our Saviour for Whom we celebrate His coming into the world! This letter will cover my activity in November and December.
I began my November travels at a Missions Conference in Peach Springs, Arizona, at H___ B___ C___. I was able to speak to the little ones at the school on the reservation, as well as give my testimony and present. I was able to spend almost a week with this church, getting to know the families, the other missionaries, and the mission work there. It really was an impactful time of fellowship; I was privileged to stay with Pastor D___’s family and see their heart for the work the Lord has given them. Mrs. D___ took me to the Grand Canyon (my first time!), which was so much fun!
Then I dropped south a few hours to S___ V___ B___ C___ in Anthem, Arizona, to say hello to friends and attend church. Pastor M___ invited me to present in the evening service. I have a special connection to this family. It was Mrs. Mo___’s late father, Bro. J___ M___, who explained the Gospel to me for the first time at an RU meeting back in Des Moines. It was directly after this that I accepted Christ as my Saviour. It was a refreshing time to spend with this sweet family, who have such a heart for the Lord’s work.
Unfortunately, just after this meeting, I developed a severe flu/upper respiratory infection that put me down for a week and a half. Praise the Lord for His provision in providing a place to stay where I could recuperate. I thank God and the family who allowed me to stay in their home while they were away.
Next, I traveled though Artesia, New Mexico, for a stopover on my way to my next meeting. I had the opportunity to witness to a sweet elderly lady named C___ at the hotel and share with her that the Lord Jesus is the only way to Heaven. We had quite a conversation about the Lord Jesus versus her belief in angels. The seed was planted; please pray for the watering of not only this seed but others planted along the way.
Deputation is very much a growth experience, and I see the Lord working on me now in preparation for later. With recent experiences along this journey, the Lord has brought to mind the following verses: “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (II Timothy 2:3-4) We are all called to be soldiers for Christ. Not only should we endure hardness, but we should endure it with love, grace, longsuffering and by keeping our focus on Him—a lesson in progress that is very much worth the learning.
I then traveled to my next meeting in San Antonio, Texas, with T___ B___ C___. I was given the opportunity to teach the ladies’ Sunday school class. I enjoyed my time at this church, getting to know the church family, and learning about their many outreaches into the community.
I moved north to the panhandle into Borger, Texas, and B___ B___ C___. This was a sweet church, and I had the opportunity to present and spend time with Pastor and Mrs. H___ and family and get to know them and their heart for the ministry.
I was then off to Marion, Texas, for a meeting at M___ B___ C___. This church clearly has a heart for missions, and I enjoyed the time I was able to spend getting to know this church family and Pastor and Mrs. E___.
Just before my final meeting, my check-engine light came on in my jeep, and it started running a bit rough. I have had it in once for an oil change, but the mechanic couldn’t tell me why the light was on. I am working on getting it in somewhere soon, as I was told I also need to get new tires. Please pray for me to find a reputable place to take it for service for a reasonable price.
Praise, Praise, and More Praise!
