Theresa and I continue to serve in Barbados as we stand in for Robert and Rhoda Smith, who are presently on medical furlough. Mrs. Smith is scheduled for knee-replacement surgery on February 10 in Northwest Indiana.
We arrived here in St. Philip last October, and we feel that the transition of overseeing the ministry from Pastor Smith to me has gone smoothly. The church members have been very supportive, and they see that the needs of my wife and me are met. They undoubtedly have been taught well and seem to follow their pastor’s vision as they seek their own vision for serving their Lord.
“Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1) I was reminded of this verse recently when I visited a local store. To my delight, some needed medication was only a fraction of the Stateside cost, one of a myriad of ways God wants to bless His children.
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light . . . .” (Isaiah 9:2) Kenneth was taking a break in the shade from his yardwork in the neighborhood we were visiting recently. After engaging in a warm-up conversation, I had the pleasure of leading Kenneth in a decision to trust the Lord as his Saviour. Truly, “The field is the world . . . .” (Matthew 13:38)
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” (Proverbs 19:17) Because of your generosity, we are able to carry on the work here, as well as supply some extra for needy people through the holidays. Thank you! Hats off also to Victory Baptist Church of Bronx, New York, for the many gifts you sent, via your pastor, for God’s people here.
Respectfully,
Keith & Theresa Baker
