Well, Amen! The radio station is back on the air. The transmitter died at the end of August, and in September, we had someone give us $2,000 to help. Pastor Rama found a secondhand transmitter in Burundi for that exact amount. He actually found it before I knew of the gift—God worked it out perfectly. The man selling it allowed us to install it and start broadcasting again before we had to pay; that way we knew it would work fine. So, we are very thankful God worked that out for us, but now, we still need to get another good quality transmitter for a backup.
While the radio station was off, we had a group of six visitors come to greet everyone and ask some questions. Nice . . . well, not really. It turns out that they were Seventh-Day Adventists and wanted to correct Pastor Rama’s doctrine. They said people had to keep working for salvation, and they passed out Ellen White books to the people at the church. But Pastor Rama started showing them the true plan of salvation from the Bible.
Unfortunately, they did not get saved, and they went away very confused. But they did see the truth in the Bible was different from their Ellen White books, which hit the trash after they left. Their visit shows that the radio station is really starting to have a big impact in the community. Some get saved, but sadly, others get upset. We also heard a report that the radio station is reaching the southwestern tip of Rwanda, which is 56 miles away. Amen!
Please continue to pray for Burundi and the ministry there. There are only a handful of good Baptist churches in the entire country. They are about divided between Catholics and Pentecostals, which both preach a works salvation, and there are NO Baptist missionaries at all.
Again, I was wanting to move there, but things did not work out for that. They are also among the five poorest countries in the world, and just living there would be interesting. So, I am happy that I can still do something to help bring the Gospel to Burundi. Please continue to pray for Pastor Rama down there. He struggles some because he is from Rwanda, and the two countries have some contention; the border is still closed between Rwanda and Burundi. Please pray for our support because the radio ministry takes a lot every month to keep things working.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
