Lockdown Lifting
We are rolling again! I was able to run the bus to pick up people for church for the first time in 18 months, but we are still not at full steam. Everyone still needs to be distanced and wear face masks in church, but at least we can now all sing the hymns. That means we have gone over 18 months without being able to sing congregationally. That’s right folks. What started as mandates by the British government, our church leaders decided to continue, choosing to err on the side of caution in the reality of the Delta COVID. We have freedoms from restrictions, but at what price freedom? While some go wild and attend mass festivals and concerts, we are working to keep the church a safe place. What a difficult balance to find! We can only praise God for His great gifts of love, grace, and mercy.
We have now had 89 saved so far this year! To God be the glory! We have had 40 first-time visitors attend since the beginning of the year. Please pray for us, as we have folks that need to be baptised soon! I am actively going soul winning and on visitation every week. Many people are asking vital questions. It is time-consuming, but this is the reason you sent us. We are an extension of you and work as if you were here. Praise God that many are accepting Christ. Keep praying for us in this endeavour!
More Young People Attending
Interestingly, the face of our church here is changing. This pandemic caused our older and more vulnerable church members to stay home and watch online, or we sent them a CD of church every week. That meant we could focus more on bringing new people into the church. We now find a younger crowd coming with young singles and married couples. I have new Christians being discipled weekly, and they are even out with me soul winning. There is a silver lining in every cloud. We are so glad that we are over here to help these new young Christians at such a time as this. Thank you for sending us over here. It will be 25 years on the field this November! God is so good!
Solts Here and There
Daniel and Rachel are coming to visit the UK soon. We last saw them at their wedding two years ago! We are excited that they are coming but would ask for special prayer for their safety and health with the continued increase in COVID here. Daniel can hardly wait to share his mission field/home here with his wife for an entire month, but they must first spend 10 days quarantined in our home. Mary Beth gets to feed them and spend extra time visiting! Happy “Mummy”!
We are so thankful for Joshua and Jeremy having a safe summer in Hammond. There have been some challenges for them both, but we have seen God at work in His loving way. Of course, we delight to hear all about their efforts for Christ and victories in their personal lives. They are both continuing their college courses this year. Hyles-Anderson College is a great training ground, and we certainly appreciate all those who serve and invest in our lads. We certainly hope to attend the special graduation in the spring for the 50th Anniversary! What a great blessing it will be to see so many faithful friends and supporters and especially to spend family time with the Solts there.
May God bless and keep you in these uncertain days. God does not change. He cannot lie. He has promised to be with us.
Yours for souls,
The Solt Family
